"Leading from Behind:A 21st Century Strategy for Leadership"
Nelson Mandela once said, "It is better to lead from behind and to put others in front." Like a shepherd corralling a flock, the leader doesn't relinquish his or her power, but instead is being creative and far-sighted. "Leading from behind" is a vision of collaboration that starts with the idea that people with different experiences and different strengths can (and should) be encouraged to work together to solve tough problems. Because our collective wisdom is often greater than the sum of its parts, it's a strategy for developing leadership skills in the 21st century.
