The Northern Nevada International Center will be hosting a delegation of 4 visitors, accompanied by Arabic interpreters from the U.S. Department of State, from Lebanon from August 5th -10th. The delegation was invited to Reno as part of the International Visitors Leadership Program of the U.S. Department of State.
The Reno portion of their program will be focused upon: Combatting Domestic Violence through the examination of the impact of domestic violence on families, communities, and countries and provide insight into how to prevent domestic abuse; learning mechanisms on how to impact public policy through participation in civic organizations and the political process; exploration of the legal and judicial safeguards to combat domestic violence, Illustration of strategies to treat domestic abuse by examining social services that support victims in reporting crimes, seeking shelter, and receiving urgent counseling; examination of systems in place to facilitate the rehabilitation of abuse offenders.
