The Nevada Radon Education Program invites students in 6–12th grade across Nevada to participate in the 2026 Nevada Radon Poster Contest!
Did you know that radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer? We need the help of student leaders across the country to help raise radon awareness! Help us raise awareness and encourage radon testing by entering the Radon Poster Contest. You can enter the contest on your own, with the help of a parent, or get your whole class or club involved in the contest. Not only will you join others across the country who are showing the dangers of radon, but you may also win a prize!
Eligibility
Youth ages 11-18 are eligible for the Nevada Radon Poster Contest (6th-12th grade). Students in 6th-12th grade enrolled in Nevada Schools: public, private, territorial, tribal, home school; or through a sponsoring club.
Prizes
Nevada: 1st place - $250, 2nd place - $150, 3rd place - $100
The Nevada 1st place winner will be selected and sent to the national contest. The national winner’s prize is $1,000.
Teacher Incentives
The top three winning posters in Nevada will receive a gift card award for their teacher (or sponsoring organization’s representative) worth $50. Encourage your students to participate today!
Posters must be submitted by November 6, 2026.
The Nitty Gritty
Step 1) Pick a Topic and Research Radon Choose one of the following five topics and research it on your own or as a class:
- What is radon?
- Where does radon come from?
- How does radon get into our homes?
- Radon can cause lung cancer.
- Test your home for radon.
Step 2) Create your Poster-Artwork Requirements
- White Paper - 8.5 x 11 inches or 12 x 18 inches are the preferred sizes, but all submission sizes will be accepted
- Must not have student’s name on the front
- Include the artwork’s title on the front
- Topic and title must be on the Artwork Submission Form
- Can be created with crayon, markers, paint (watercolor, tempera, acrylic), collage, pencil, and/or pen
- Copyrighted characters (such as Uncle Sam, Iron Man etc.), product logos, and trademarked or brand names cannot be used
- Lettering and message should be large enough to reproduce well (try to have all outline pencil markings erased)
- The Submission Form must be sent with each poster
- Artwork created with AI or copyrighted images will be disqualified
