Additional Event Dates

This workshop, AI in the Classroom, is designed to explore the opportunities and challenges of integrating artificial intelligence into teaching and learning.

Drawing on Writing Studies scholarship, educational research, and their own classroom experiences, presenters Dr. Katie Miller and Ashlee Pargett will introduce foundational definitions of critical AI literacy and demonstrate how these principles can inform course planning, assignment design, and classroom practice. The session will highlight how writing assignments—whether short or long, formal or informal—create meaningful opportunities to engage students in conversations about decision-making, ethics, creativity, and authenticity.

Participants will also receive practical pedagogical resources, including reading sequences, usage guidelines, class activities, discussion prompts, and model assignments. Faculty will be invited to reflect on how critical AI literacy can serve as a starting point for retooling their own course designs and assignments in ways that foster students’ rhetorical agency.
