On Friday, August 10th, Nevada Alumni Association Book Club Members begin reading Hag-Seed by Margaret Atwood.
Margaret Atwood, born in 1939 in Ottawa, grew up in northern Ontario, Quebec, and Toronto. She earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Toronto and a master’s from Radcliffe College. She is an acclaimed author of over 35 works of poetry, fiction, children’s literature, and non-fiction. Atwood is best known for novels such as The Edible Woman, The Handmaid’s Tale, The Robber Bride, Alias Grace, The Blind Assassin (Booker Prize, 2000), and Oryx and Crake. Her works have been translated into more than 40 languages. Atwood has received numerous awards and honorary degrees and is also the co-inventor of the Long Pen™.

When Felix is ousted as artistic director of the Makeshiweg Theatre Festival, his Tempest production is canceled and his life falls into lonely exile with the imagined presence of his late daughter, Miranda. Later, while teaching theatre at Burgess Correctional Institution, fate delivers his old enemies back into his path. With the raw interpretations and a touch of digital magic, Felix stages a Tempest unlike any other—one that blurs illusion and reality, forces his foes to play along, and tests how he’ll handle Miranda’s unexpected role in the drama.
