Alumni Book Club: Winter Read
Friday, March 8, 2024
About this Event
Join Us For An Instant New York Times Bestseller! The Nevada Book Club community will read The Most Spectacular Restaurant in the World by Tom Roston starting January 5. We'll delve into the stories, the glamour, and the legacy of the legendary Windows on the World restaurant.
"The city’s premier celebration venue, deeply woven into its social, culinary and business fabrics, deserved a proper history. Roston delivers it with power, detail, humor and heartbreak to spare."―New York Post
“Much more than a history of a restaurant spectacular for its views, Roston has woven together a riveting history of New York City since its near collapse in the 1970s and intriguing stories about the restaurant business. The terrible tragedy of 9/11 looms, but there is also a heartening theme of how even the worst architectural excrescence can be transformed by people and imagination. The World Trade Center was cold and ugly from its inception, but its restaurant was magical."―Paul Freedman, author of Ten Restaurants That Changed America
Expand your horizons and be part of a community that celebrates the joy of reading with the Nevada Alumni Book Club! There is no cost to participate – you just have to get a copy of the book to enjoy. If you haven't signed up you can do so online to join in on the conversation.
How it works
The book club will connect through a private online forum where people can discuss the current book and network with each other. The group will spend two months on each book, so you'll have plenty of time to read. To learn more visit our sign-up page.
Why should you join?
There are three main reasons we hope you'll be excited to participate in our book club:
