Anindita Nanda: Odissi Classical Indian Dance
Anindita Nanda (M.A. in Indian Classical Dance and Music) will perform pieces from the Odissi Repertoire. Tracing its origin back over a millennium, Odissi is one of the oldest surviving dance forms in India. The technique exhibits great attention to detail in the complex blending of mudras, eye movements, fast footwork and fluid movement of the upper body. Nanda will be joined onstage by University of Nevada, Reno dance faculty and students. This event is supported by the College of Liberal Arts Hilliard Endowment. Tickets: Free. Parking is free on arts-events evenings (after 7 p.m.) in the Brian J. Whalen Parking Complex, which is north of the Church Fine Arts building and south of Lawlor Events Center.
