About this event
Born on the western edge of the Ozark Mountains, photographer Antone Dolezal has spent the past 15 years reconnecting with the people, places and oral storytelling traditions that shaped him as a child. Dolezal will discuss Devil’s Promenade – a long-form photographic essay on community, religion and folklore in rural Missouri and Arkansas (co-published with Lara Shipley- Associate Professor of Photography at Michigan State University). He will also discuss his forthcoming book, The Naked Truth, a true Great Depression era story on the Ozark mesmerist, anti-establishment politician and medical charlatan Norman Baker and the desperate American public he preyed upon.
