Caring for the Caregivers: Building Skills for Wellness, Mental Health, and Suicide Prevention: LIVE WEBINAR
By Center for the Application of Substance Abuse Technologies (CASAT), Public Health
About this event
Caring for a loved one with mental health concerns, chronic illness, or physical disabilities is deeply meaningful—but it can also be exhausting, isolating, and overwhelming. Many unpaid family and community caregivers experience high levels of stress, compassion fatigue, and burnout, often putting their own needs last. This interactive training is designed to equip caregivers with the skills and confidence to recognize early warning signs of suicide and respond effectively for themselves or a loved one.
Learning Objectives
By the end of this presentation, participants will:
-
Identify verbal, behavioral, and situational indicators of suicidal thoughts
-
Understand the unique risks faced by caregivers and care recipients
-
Have supportive, nonjudgmental conversations.
-
The session will also provide tools for connecting individuals to professional help, as well as strategies for protecting caregivers’ own mental health and resilience
