Cesar Chavez Day of Service

March 31 is the birthday of Cesar Chavez, a 20th-century American labor leader and civil rights activist. In honor of Chavez, who engaged in the community by advocating for the rights of thousands of farm workers throughout the 1960s, 70s, and 80s, the Center for Student Engagement and Desert Farming Initiative have set up a Day of Service where we will look to make a positive impact on our own community. The day will include discussions on Cesar Chavez and the Desert Farming Initiative's food sovereignty work, and volunteers will be led through spring farm tasks. Light food and drinks will be provided.
