About this Event
1664 N. Virginia St. Reno, Nevada 89557
https://library.unr.edu/DeLaMare/IndexDeLaMare Library hosts artist Morgan Chivers. 'Combustion Scars and Planted Trees' explores the abstract world of natural materials and affiliation between human beings and the natural world. From the artists own statement:
'Everything is interconnected. From the neural networks that compose our thoughts to the webbed-strands of galactic density we exist within, electricity flows in a majestic cycle of continuous feedback. We are only able to see the microscopic structures within our brains (and gather the data that allows us to 'see' the macroscopic structure of the universe) through precise control of glass; we force to become a lens so that we may see what we are.'
Morgan Chivers graduated from San Jose State University after spending a full decade earning four degrees and is a current graduate student at the University of Texas pursuing an MFA in Intermedia and Glass, Morgan's work is exhibited internationally, receiving 1st place honors from Carnegie Arts Center's 'Imagining the Real' exhibition, and a publication in the Glass Arts Society's International Student Exhibition Catalogue.
