Vikram David Amar
Daniel J. Dykstra Endowed Chair and Distinguished Professor of Law, UC Davis School of Law

How should power be divided between the states and the federal government in a changing America?

Professor Amar will explore the evolving relationship between state and federal authority. He will examine how courts, states and federal institutions navigate questions of governance, constitutional limits and the balance of power in today's political climate. As debates over education, immigration, elections, public health and executive authority continue to test the boundaries of federalism, Amar will consider who decides and what the Constitution has to say about it.
