This training focuses on the issues and concerns surrounding disparities in the healthcare setting.  The 13 topics range from discrimination and social identity to implicit bias and microaggressions.  The goal of the training is to allow folks to reflect on how their social identity impacts the ways they move through their world as they interact with others. This directly impacts how the healthcare system functions in providing care to everyone.

In the last legislative session, Nevada passed several laws to address disparities in healthcare – long before COVID-19 was part of the equation.  The course seeks to examine why disparities exist in accessing and delivering healthcare in Nevada.

The training is scheduled over 3 half days in morning or afternoon sessions.  There is one morning and one-afternoon session available each month.  All three days must be completed to receive the certificate of attendance required by the state of Nevada for all licensed healthcare facility workers.

Students, faculty, and staff may attend at no cost by emailing Jay for registration instructions.
