Day of Remembrance 2019: The Holocaust and the Rise of Antisemitism in the 21st Century
Osher Lifelong Learning Institute presents Day of Remembrance 2019: The Holocaust and the Rise of Antisemitism in the 21st Century. This event will honor the past and explore the current threats to our nation and the world.
The event will begin with an introduction by Judith Schumer, chairperson of the Nevada Governor’s Advisory Council on Education Relating to the Holocaust.
Robert Lucchesi, screenwriter and director, hosts the screening of the film “The Mitka Project,” followed by a conversation with Mitka Kalinski, a Sparks resident who was held in several concentration camps.
Dennis Dworkin, chair of the Department of History, explores the current rise in antisemitism from a historical perspective.
