The Center, Every Student, Every Story invites you to celebrate Día de los Muertos from Oct. 30 to Nov. 5 inside the Joe Crowley Student Union, by creating and decorating your own altar.

Día de los Muertos is celebrated in Central and Southern México on Nov. 1 and 2.  It is believed that through beautifully decorated altars (ofrendas), the gates of heaven are open at midnight on Oct. 31, and the spirits of all deceased children (angelitos) are allowed to reunite with their family members for 24 hours.  On Nov. 2, the spirits of the adults come down to enjoy the festivities that are prepared for them.  In essence, Día de los Muertos is a celebration rooted in deep cultural tradition.
