Enhancing the Security and Integrity of America’s Research Enterprise
The University of Nevada, Reno hosts a regional webinar featuring Kelvin Droegemeier, Director of The White House Office of Science and Technology Policy. The webinar brings together faculty and researchers from many Western universities and will include opening remarks by Brian Sandoval, President of the University of Nevada, Reno and Rebecca Keiser, Chief of Research Security Strategy and Policy, National Science Foundation. Dr. Droegemeier will discuss examples of risks and provide an update on steps being taken by the Office of Science and Technology Policy and agency partners to address risks to security and integrity while maintaining an open and collaborative enterprise. This webinar is supported by the National Science Foundation.

Kelvin K. Droegemeier, Ph.D., leads the Office of Science and Technology Policy in its coordination of science and technology initiatives across the federal government. He also served for three months in 2020 as Acting Director of the National Science Foundation. Before joining The White House, Dr. Droegemeier served as Vice President for Research and Regents’ Professor of Meteorology at the University of Oklahoma, where he joined the faculty in 1985 as Assistant Professor of Meteorology. In his 33 years at the University of Oklahoma, Dr. Droegemeier generated more than $40 million in research funding and authored or co-authored more than 80 refereed articles and 200 conference publications. He served two six-year terms on the National Science Board, the governing body of the National Science Foundation, including the last four years as Vice Chairman. He has also served on and chaired numerous national boards and committees and is a Fellow of the American Meteorological Society and American Association for the Advancement of Science. He was appointed in 2017 as Oklahoma Cabinet Secretary of Science and Technology.
