This free program will:

  • Explain the difference between empathy and sympathy, and how setting clear emotional boundaries prevents burnout
  • Demonstrate "I" statements instead of "You" statements to lower conflict, set boundaries, and reduce workplace stress
  • Describe active listening that allows you to connect with patients effectively without draining your emotional energy
  • Identify the early signs of compassion fatigue and apply practical tools to protect your well-being

Speakers: Ellen Grossman, B.A. Program instructor for Healthy Aging, Extension and Natalie Mazzullo, M.Ed. Coordinator of Healthy Aging, Extension. 

Continuing Education Units (CEUs): This program has been approved by the Nevada State Board of Examiners for Social Workers (A-826-02) and Board for Long Term Care Administrators (3111) for 2.0 CEUs. The Sanford Center for Aging approves this program for 2.0 CEUs for Nurses (NV-000719).
