This portion of the Laboratory Safety Training series must be completed after attending Laboratory Safety Online Training (Part 1 of 2) and (if necessary) Laboratory Biosafety Training (Supplement to Part 1).

Students will perform hands-on laboratory techniques involving researching chemical hazards, use of chemical fume hoods, labeling and management of chemical waste, laboratory assessments, chemical spill response, and (for those that perform biological research) use of a biosafety cabinet.

Laboratory Safety Training is required for all those who work in or supervise work in laboratories or stockrooms containing chemical, biological, or radiological hazards.  Tenure-track and/or research faculty DO NOT HAVE TO ATTEND the hands-on portion of the course, but must complete the online portion (Part 1).

All hands-on laboratory safety training sessions will be completed in the EH&S Safety Training for Academic Research (STAR) laboratory located in the Applied Research Facility.
