An interactive workshop on the National Science Foundation (NSF) covering the agency's mission, funding priorities, how NSF is organized, how proposals are reviewed, the types of projects funded by NSF, and a step-by-step discussion of how to write a proposal to NSF.

Presenter Lucy Deckard established her consulting firm, Academic Research Funding Strategies, LLC in 2010. She works with universities and faculty across the U.S., helping them develop the skills to compete successfully for research funding. She has extensive experience helping to prepare proposals to a wide range of funders, including NSF, NIH, DoD, DARPA, DOE, DoED, NASA, and USDA.

The online workshop will be conducted on Zoom. Many of the exercises will involve breakout rooms, and faculty will be asked to turn on their cameras if possible. The workshop will be recorded, with the exception of the exercises in the breakout room.

Participants will be eligible for one of a limited number of 45-minute individual consultation slots with Lucy Deckard following the workshop. Information on this opportunity will be sent to registrants before the presentation date.
