This free pre-conference workshop is offered as part of the 3rd Annual Data Science Conference. Registration is available through the conference registration page.

You are welcome to attend the workshop only, the conference only, or both. While walk-ins are welcome, we encourage you to register in advance, as we cannot guarantee seating for those who have not registered.

Python has become one of the most widely used programming languages for scientific computing, data analysis, machine learning, and artificial intelligence. This hands-on workshop provides a practical introduction to using Python for exploring, processing, and visualizing research data.

Using Google Colab, participants will learn how to work with datasets in an interactive notebook environment without installing any software. Through guided examples, participants will import, explore, summarize, and visualize real-world datasets while learning the essential Python concepts needed for data analysis.

By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:

• Navigate and use Google Colab notebooks.
• Understand the Python fundamentals needed for data analysis.
• Import, explore, and manipulate tabular datasets using pandas.
• Calculate basic summary statistics and explore data patterns.
• Create simple visualizations to communicate and better understand data.

Prerequisites

• A Google account to access Google Colab
• A Windows, macOS, or Linux laptop (tablets are not recommended)
