What is QWEL?
Qualified Water Efficient Landscaper (QWEL) is an educational certification program that began in Sonoma and Marin counties in California and has been modified to meet the needs of Nevadans. The intent is to provide an affordable, proactive and local approach to reducing landscape water demands, as well as share the knowledge of water efficient and sustainable landscape principles. QWEL is EPA certified through the WaterSense program.
What: 21 hour training course, including irrigation audit and exam
When: Oct. 15-16, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. - QWEL training, Oct. 17 - Water Audit from 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. and Exam from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Where: University of Nevada Cooperative Extension Washoe County office at 4955 Energy Way in Reno
Fees: $100 for training program and $50 to take the exam
Registration is a two step process:
Monday, October 15 at 8:00am to 5:00pm
Tuesday, October 16 at 8:00am to 5:00pm
Wednesday, October 17 at 9:30am to 4:00pm
