Reading and Panel Talk on Climate and Wildfire

Book launch of Burnt, by local writer, retired firefighter and chief, MFA-CW alum, Clare Frank, with a reading and conversation/moderated Q&A; followed by Climate and Wildfire Institute panel discussion and Q&A.

Wildfire and climate change continue to pose challenges in this area and globally. The growth of megafires has become a harsh reality in the West. This one-day event would look at the subject from the viewpoint of a seasoned firefighter, who became a statewide leader as the first and only female Chief of Fire Protection for CAL FIRE, followed by a panel of experts moderated by the Climate and Wildfire Institute to examine the science behind the climate realities we’re facing and the necessary responses to address this existential crisis facing the American West and beyond.

Reading and conversation 1:00-2:00 pm, panel discussion 2:30-3:30 pm.
