Reno Jazz Festival – Miguel Zenón Quartet
The Reno Jazz Festival presents the Miguel Zenón Quartet on the main stage of Lawlor Events Center. Multiple Grammy Nominee and Guggenheim and MacArthur Fellow Miguel Zenón represents a select group of musicians who have masterfully balanced and blended the often-contradictory poles of innovation and tradition.
Widely considered as one of the most groundbreaking and influential saxophonists of his generation, he has also developed a unique voice as a composer and as a conceptualist, concentrating his efforts on perfecting a fine mix between Latin American Folkloric Music and Jazz.
The University’s Jazz Lab I, directed by Josh Reed, will perform the opening concert. Jazz Lab I is the University's premier large jazz ensemble, composed of the advanced students of the jazz studies program. For more information about the Reno Jazz Festival visit unr.edu/rjf.
