About this event
Sharing Master Gardener Knowledge Beyond the Booth
Master Gardener volunteers know their program inside and out, this scientific poster session offers a chance to package that knowledge in a format that draws people in, sparks conversation, and travels well beyond a single event. This training walks volunteers through the basics of creating an effective outreach poster: how to distill research-based gardening information into a clear, visually engaging story; how to balance text, images, and data so passersby actually stop and read; and how to turn a static display into a conversation-starter that builds community interest in the Master Gardener program.
Participants will also explore how poster-session skills transfer to other outreach formats: social media graphics, tabling displays at farmers markets and fairs, handouts for library talks, and content for local partners, so the program's reach extends well beyond any single event. By the end of the session, volunteers will have a poster outline or draft in hand, along with practical tips for adapting it to whatever venue comes next.
Who should attend: Any Master Gardener volunteer interested in public outreach, whether they're presenting at a poster session soon or simply want new tools for sharing what they know with their community.
