DESCRIPTION:Interdisciplinary artist Esy Casey will give an artist lecture 
 at Holman Arts & Media Center (University of Nevada\, Reno at Lake Tahoe) 
 on Saturday\, August 8th at 7pm. This event is free and open to the public
 !\n\nEsy Casey is an interdisciplinary artist using elements of documentar
 y and expanded cinema to explore invisibilized labor\, culture and memory 
 in the landscape. Her film 'A Movement Against the Transparency of the Sta
 rs of the Seas' (2023) was nominated for Best Short by The International D
 ocumentary Association\, screened in competition at IDFA\, won Best Short 
 Doc at Mimesis Documentary Festival and is streaming on the Criterion Chan
 nel. Her directorial debut\, 'Jeepney'\, was nationally broadcast on PBS i
 n North America. She is the recipient of awards and fellowships from organ
 izations including The New York State Council on the Arts\, The Ford Found
 ation\, The Flaherty Seminar\, The New York Film Festival\, MacDowell\, Ya
 ddo\, The Center for Asian American Media and The Princess Grace Foundatio
 n USA. She has exhibited internationally\, including Busan International V
 ideo Art Fair (South Korea)\, Kala Art Institute (California)\, Field Proj
 ects (New York) and The Wassaic Project (New York).
