Thought on Tap: Rethinking our Tech Overlords
Information technology is to modern life what business was to the Industrial Revolution or agriculture to the first civilizations. It has unprecedented influence over every aspect of life. But what promise and peril does it bring? Who makes the decisions and who is left out? What choices are we making now that will influence the future to come? And how do we live in this rapidly changing world?
Join us on Thursday, October 14, from 5:30 to 6:30pm to listen to a panel of experts discuss these questions and more. We’ll provide some food for thought, while you provide your own food and drinks at home. We will invite questions from the audience throughout the event.
Thought on Tap is a public engagement series that brings together diverse faculty, staff, students, and community members for important conversations around timely topics. Through these discussions, we seek to facilitate conversations between members of the university and the wider Reno community. In addition, we attempt to connect topics and ideas discussed in Core Humanities classes with contemporary issues and events.
Thought on Tap is brought to you by Core Humanities, the College of Liberal Arts, and Laughing Planet. Podcasts and transcripts of past Thought on Tap episodes are available on the Core Humanities website.
