In honor of Cesar Chavez, the university is hosting a Day of Service and Advocacy to celebrate his life and legacy of advocacy, empowerment, and community engagement. This event invites students to give back to the community while continuing Chavez’s work for farm workers’ rights and labor movements. It will feature discussions on Chavez’s impact, food sovereignty, and the importance of activism, along with hands-on volunteer work at the Reno Food System. Students will also have the opportunity to engage with local labor leaders during presentations, interactive discussions, and resource tables, providing ways to get involved in local initiatives. To celebrate culture and unity, food will be provided.

This event is organized by Hispanic/Latinx Community Relations, the Multicultural Center, and the Center for Student Engagement.
