University Themed Mural Unveiling at Fire Station

The City of Reno’s Arts and Culture Commission and Fire Department have been collaborating on a series of murals painted on fire stations around the City of Reno. The first station to be painted was Fire Station 1 in 2017.

Fire Station 2 was painted in 2018 as a collaboration with the Holland Project and students from neighboring Hug High School.

Fire Station 4, located near campus at 1096 Ralston Street has now been completed by artist Mike Lucido, with a “University” themed mural and will be the third station to be painted.

The new mural, which covers the two roll-up bay doors of the station was commissioned by the Reno Fire Department, City of Reno Arts and Culture Commission and the University of Nevada, Reno’s Marketing and Communications Department. The unveiling for the recently completed “University” themed mural will be held next Tuesday, June 18 at 1 p.m. at Fire Station 4. Staff from the City of Reno, Reno Arts and Culture Commission and the University will participate in the unveiling ceremony.
