Is all fair in love and war? Is it better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all? Is love just a glorified form of sexual desire? Hosted by the University of Nevada, Reno's Philosophy Department and co-sponsored by the Lilley Museum of Art, this Valentine’s-week philosophy café brings students and community members together for an intimate evening of conversation about love, sexual desire, dating, and relationships. Through small-group discussion guided by insightful questions, we will reflect on how philosophy helps us make sense of some of the most intimate yet central aspects of our lives—our attachments, commitments, conflicts, and longings. No background in philosophy is required. Bring a date, a friend, or a family member, enjoy light refreshments, and take part in conversation in the thoughtful, reflective setting of the Lilley Museum in the heart of campus.
