How can we help students become effective readers and writers when AI is everywhere? Ben Krueger (Teaching Associate Professor, Communication Studies) demonstrates how Google NotebookLM transforms dense readings into the foundations for video explainers, audio podcasts, study guides, and content frameworks. Using specific examples from his communication courses, this session provides practical assignment models that leverage AI to deepen—rather than outsource—reading comprehension and writing. Attendees will leave with a framework for navigating academic integrity and strategies for ensuring that AI acts as a catalyst for student learning rather than a replacement for it.
